Wayne McGregor | Random Dance were named ‘Art Partnership of the Year’ at a special ceremony in London on 7 December hosted by TV presenters Wendy Turner Webster and Julie Peasgood.

Wayne McGregor | Random Dance won the award for its collaboration with Sense as part of the charities Arts & Wellbeing programme. During a week-long workshop, company dancers, deafblind people and their care staff created a framework that allowed participants to explore their creative and physical potential. Building a common language through touch, the dancers and participants tried out various exercises and games and came up with movement phrases unique to each participant’s communication and mobility needs.

On winning the award Jasmine Wilson Director of Creative Learning at Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, said:

“We are delighted to have won the ‘Art Partnership of the Year’ award. The workshop was an amazing experience for our company dancers and it was a real pleasure to work with Sense. It was wonderful to see participants unlock their individual movement potential and to create new ways of understanding, through touch and physical thinking.”

Sense Chief Executive Gill Morbey said:

“People with a range of sensory impairments and the remarkable individuals who support them often face major challenges in life and these awards reflect some of the fantastic achievements they have accomplished. I have been hugely impressed by the dedication, determination and good work of all the winners. Wayne McGregor | Random Dance is a worthy winner and I would like to congratulate them on the award.”
