War scene illustrating tanks moving across a bleak landscape

Painting by Rachel Gadsden entitled Touching Angels (Iraq)

This composition (6:4.75 - width to height ratio) is dominated by reds and blacks on either side of a swirl of light red and beige. In this central swirl - which could be river or desert) we see four tanks crossing from left to right in the foreground. On each bank of the swirl are abstract images of explosions and destroyed structures. On the right hand side two faces of children emerge. The upper background is a darkened war-torn sky with a helicopter silhouetted against a blue white cloud. The painting is festooned with streaks of white indicative of explosions.
