Disability Arts Online

Bye bye london, hello Eastbourne / 26 January 2010

Hello there people, one of the reasons I haven't written anything in my blog recently is because I have moved from London to Eastbourne. I have been in London all of my 39 years and it is time for a change. When I say to people I am moving to Eastbourne, people automatically say, 'God's Waiting Room'. Well, seeing I am an atheist, it is just a waiting room, I think Godot is in the chair across from me. It's true there is not much happening here, but I aim to change all that. So fellow East-Sussexians, what's happening in the disability arts world down here?

Hi Dolly - when are you going to give us some more of your poetry. It always makes me think and generally adds a bit of humour to my day.

Well we got Dada-South - they've got a great programme going on - linking disabled people to share experience - I think I saw Godot once - but I think he was a bit shy that day.

The big noise being made by Heavy Load is very exciting. If you get a chance to get to one of their gigs I'd thoroughly recommend it.

We've got accentuate taking off - but are still struggling to work what the heck it is?

We've got precious little in lots of ways. Disability tends to be a bit of dirty word - and the will to create a collective of disabled artists often seems to get undermined coz people don't like saying they're disabled.
